MI School Stories is a statewide digital storytelling initiative created in partnership with the Mosaic Film Experience and the Steelcase Foundation. The project highlights authentic student narratives and celebrates the pride, belonging, and opportunity that public education provides students and families across Michigan.
Share Your “MI School Story” in 3 Easy Steps
MI School Stories invites real Michigan public school students to answer one simple question:
“What’s your powerful public school story?”
Get Started
Themes
Access
Sports, arts and music education, clubs, or extracurricular activities.
Example: “Being part of my school’s soccer team has taught me how to build community and work together.”
Achievement
College preparation, first-generation success, dual enrollment, favorite classes, or AP/IB opportunities
Example: “I’m a first-generation student, and my school’s free dual-enrollment program allows me to earn my associate’s degree before graduating high school.”
Community
After-school programs, childcare, health clinics, food programs, volunteering, or school events.
Example: “Volunteering at my school’s annual blood drive helped me discover my interest in pursuing a career in healthcare.”
