Why Center Student Voices

Across Michigan, public schools shape the lives of students every day. Through learning opportunities, extracurriculars, and strong community support systems, public schools create real pathways to future success.

Yet their perspectives are often missing from conversations about public education.

MI School Stories invites students to share their own experiences and perspectives, putting their voices at the center of the narrative around public education in Michigan.

Made To Be Shared

MI School Stories highlights authentic student experiences and celebrates the pride, belonging, and opportunity that public education provides.

Through short videos, students share how their public schools have impacted their lives, creating a growing collection of real stories from classrooms and communities across the state.

As these stories grow, they form a living digital archive of student voices. Together, they document the opportunities, support systems, and communities that public schools make possible. Helping educators, advocates, and communities tell a fuller story about the impact of public education.
